Jake, Enrique, Diego and 37 other Star Magic artists test negative for drugs

In the Duterte administration’s crackdown on illegal substances, no one will be spared, not even celebrities.

As such, Star Magic, ABS-CBN’s talent management arm, on its own did a supervised and voluntary drug test on 40 of its artists over the weekend “to belay rumors of drug use in its community.”

Jake Cuenca, Enrique Gil, and Diego Loyzaga — who are supposedly in the government’s drug watch list if tabloid reports are to be believed — tested negative for illegal drugs.

Star Magic has not yet to released the names of the 37 other artists who voluntarily subjected themselves to the drug test after being informed by management of the schedule some two weeks ago.

ABS-CBN PR manager Thess Gubi said they publicized the results to let the public know that Star Magic supports the government in the fight against drugs.

“This is the network’s initiative to dispel rumors even before the president decides to reveal the names of those on the list,” she said in a report by Philippine Daily Inquirer.

This is only the first batch of testing among Star Magic artists, more will reportedly follow.

The suggestion of netizens? Drug testing of celebrities should not be done in house, but by a neutral third-party.
