LOL: There’s a 2-hour queue for Pablo cheese tarts

We’ve already waited a while for Pablo’s arrival, spending a few more hours in line can’t hurt much, right?

The Japanese wonder known for cheese tarts opened its first branch at Robinson’s Manila today, and food fans are all hyped up!

As expected, folks are lining up for the chance to sink their teeth into the rich, gooey cheese tarts inspired by steaks, and originated from Osaka.

There is a waiting time of at least two hours — but as the service staff told us, you can’t really tell how long the wait will take.

Planning to hoard the gooey goodness? Bad news.

Pablo is limiting the purchase of their premium cheese tart (PHP799) to only three whole tarts per customer because of the “overwhelming response” they got.

Fortunately, we already had a sneak preview back in March at the original Osaka branch where we even got to chat with CEO Masamitsu Sakimoto.

Pablo, he said, was inspired by a business trip in Hamburg while he was eating steak.

The fashionable 35-year-old realized he could do the same with cheese tarts. He’d also ask his customers: rare or medium?

He named his company after Pablo Picasso because “I want to revolutionize cheese tarts the way Picasso did with art,” the Osaka native said.

That was in 2011 and, since then, Pablo has become the best-selling cheese tart in all of Japan.

In case you are wondering, yes, the Pablo cheese tarts are worth a try.

Here are some of the other items that you can enjoy aside from cheese tarts:

  • Premium cheese tart (PHP799)
  • Chocolate tart (PHP699)
  • Matcha cheese tart (PHP699)
  • Sabel cheese (PHP499)
  • Sabel cheese black (PHP499)

Pablo is at 1/L Robinson’s Place Manila, Pedro Gil Wing, Adriatico Street, Malate, Manila; Daily 10pm-9am.
