LOOK: Duterte gets a rice make-over from PhilRice

The Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) in Los Baños, Laguna took art to the next level by making a masterpiece for President Rodrigo Duterte.

Their canvass? An entire rice paddy.

PhilRice shared a photo of their artwork showing a rice field with the rice spelling out “DU30,” Duterte’s nickname. Even more impressive is the face of Pres. Duterte used as the zero.

“Come and take a look at PhilRice LB’s Paddy Art, at the 10-5 Palayabangan Field along Biotech Rd, UPLB!” PhilRice wrote on Facebook.

In their official news release, PhilRice explained their artwork.

“In designing the rice paddy art, the Institute’s FutureRice program employed the anamorphosis principle, an art technique used for a distorted artwork that will only appear normal when viewed from a certain angle. It is the same principle used in 3D street and room art.”

This is not the first time PhilRice in Los Baños and Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija showed their artistic side through rice. They also made a rice mural of the famous AlDub loveteam of actor Alden Richards and Maine “YayaDub” Mendoza, as well as the Philippines’ national hero Dr. Jose Rizal.
