Yes, Sharon Cuneta performed at Bilibid…as part of RockEd outreach

What sort of crazy claims will be made next?

On Tuesday, Sep 20, during the probe into the alleged proliferation of drugs at the New Bilibid Prison during the stint of Senator Leila de Lima as Justice secretary, one witness claimed that the penitentiary seemed like “Little Las Vegas.”

ABS-CBN News reports that Bilibid inmate Rodolfo Magleo, a former anti-narcotics cop who was convicted of kidnapping in 2004, was one of the six witnesses presented by Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II.

Magleo alleged that “drug lords and inmates at the maximum security enjoyed various perks and privileges supposedly due to lax supervision from De Lima and the Bureau of Corrections.”

He stated, “During the tenure of then-secretary de Lima, ang maximum security compound ay tinaguriang ‘Little Las Vegas’ and at the same time, ‘Wild (Wild) West.'”

He went on to explain, “It was called ‘Little Las Vegas’ dahil maraming concerts na nangyayari and [these were] not ordinary concerts. Concert ito ng mga celebrities, mga famous celebrities katulad nila Freddie Aguilar, Sharon Cuneta. The Mocha Girls performed, [as well as] Ethel Booba. I cannot recall the name of the dancers anymore, and several comedienne, celebrities.”

Gang Badoy of RockEd Philippines confirmed that Cuneta indeed performed for the Bilibid inmates as an outreach. “We were the ones who arranged for @sharon_cuneta12 to perform inside prison as outreach. Not the Mocha Girls tho nor Freddie,” Badoy tweeted.

Cuneta’s husband, Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan has likewise issued a statement on the matter. He even specified the date of his wife’s Bilibid appearance.

“On July 10, 2012, Sharon went to the New Bilibid Prison for the taping of her talk show, ‘Kasama mo Kapatid,’ which had an episode featuring the life of inmates, ” wrote Pangilinan.

He added, “(Sharon) sang four songs for the closing portion, which is the customary format of the show. She sang ‘Maging Sino Ka Man,’ ‘Tubig at Langis,’ ‘Kahit Konting Pagtingin,’ and ‘Kahit Maputi Na ang Buhok Ko’ but only to support RockEd’s outreach program for prisoners.
