PNP chief Bato dela Rosa is in Colombia to study their drug war

Philippine National Police chief director-general Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa is currently in Bogota, Colombia, to learn the country’s police’s best practices in waging a war against illegal drugs.

At the sidelines of his meeting in Bogota with Colombian national police chief Jorge Hernando Nieto, Dela Rosa told reporters that the “frequency, intensity, magnitude” of the government’s campaign against illegal drugs will remain the same during the extension of President Rodrigo Duterte’s self-imposed six-month deadline.

“It may be recalled that in a speech on Sun, Sep 18, Duterte said the government would need another six months to solve the country’s drug and crime problems,” reports Jeff Canoy on ABS-CBNnews.com.

Dela Rosa was further quoted as saying, “Kaya nga binigyan tayo ng extension ng another six months para matapos talaga ito. Paano natin matatapos kung mag-slowdown tayo?”

(“That’s why we were given a six-month extension to finish the drug campaign. How can we finish it if we slow down?”)
