Kris Aquino shows off controversial jewelry to press

“It’s nice to be back!”

This was what Kris Aquino said at detergent brand Ariel’s Wash Your Fears Summit at the Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City on Tue, Oct 11.

The event is Kris’ first major public appearance since May and her first time to address members of the press since announcing that she had officially left ABS-CBN.

The guests of the event — which included former beauty queen Miriam Quiambao and journalist Mons Romulo — were given markers and asked to write down their fears on a white shirt.

Kris wrote down: “My loved ones being hurt.”

“For myself, wala na akong kinakatakutan kasi lahat naharap ko na,” she explained.

As promised, Kris brought the necklace she wore during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Leaders’ Summit last Nov 2015, the same piece of jewelry that rumormongers alleged was originally former First Lady Imelda Marcos’.

Kris reiterated in an Instagram post that the necklace was not stolen from the former First Lady. Rather, it was merely a Bottega Veneta piece made of cubic zirconia.

“I just want everyone to see it and put the issue to rest. Because I feel when the truth is on your side, it’s easy to discuss anything,” she explained.

Kris added: “I got annoyed with this issue because it was putting into question my mom’s memory. Because obviously, saan ko makukuha? Gagawin ba yun ng mom ko?”

It may be recalled that Cory Aquino was installed as the President of the Philippines after President Ferdinand Marcos was overthrown via the 1986 People Power revolution. Cory’s administration formed the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) to recover the Marcoses’ ill-gotten wealth, which they had amassed during Ferdinand’s two decades in power.
