Paralympics medalist Josephine Medina gets 3 years of free flights from AirAsia

These amazing athletes deserve all the good things in life, don’t they?

AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes gave away airline tickets to Paralympic medalists from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at an event in the Asian Aviation Centre of Excellence (AACE) in Malaysia yesterday, Oct 11.

Included in the list of para athletes who received the reward was Filipina Josephine Medina, who won a bronze medal for table tennis at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.

Medina received three years of free flights for her bronze medal.

“I am tremendously proud of paddler Josephine Medina for ending the Philippines’ 16-year medal drought at the Paralympics,” said AirAsia Philippines CEO Captain Dexter Comendador in a GMA News Online report.

Gold medal winners received a lifetime of tickets flights, while silver medal winners received five years of free flight.

Fernandes, for his part, wrote this caption for an Instagram post: “Amazing day with ASEAN para athletes. 32 medals. 12 golds. But what was the best was they all had a heart of gold. Humble, passionate ,determined and so appreciative. A model to us all. They showed the world that Asean can be the best,”

Fernandes first announced that his company will give away free tickets to winning para athletes last month.
