On Mon, Oct 17, a 22-year-old Venezuelan woman was arrested by airport authorities for allegedly attempting to smuggle into the country some 4.3 kilograms of high-grade cocaine.
Like the Brazilian woman, the Venezuelan suspect arrived in Manila on board an Emirates Airlines flight from Dubai.
“The suspect’s movements were monitored by the Airport Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group after the US Drug Enforcement Agency’s tip that a Venezuelan was carrying cocaine concealed in her luggage,” reports Raoul Esperas on ABS-CBN News Online.
The report noted: “Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) general manager Ed Monreal said airport authorities are coordinating with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and National Bureau of Investigation to identify the syndicate behind recent attempts to smuggle illegal drugs into the country.”
