Couple in Bicol almost postponed wedding when beloved dog went missing

It’s safe to say that this furry, four-legged friend was the most important guest at the celebration.

The wedding of Jaja Ayao and Dominique Bitancur almost got postponed when the couple’s dog “Daddy” got lost two weeks prior to their big day in Naga City in Bicol. Naga City is located 377 kilometers (234 miles) southeast of Manila.

No dog, no wedding, said the bride when the dog went missing.

The English bulldog was given to Ayao by her sister to help her cope with the pain of dealing with an ectopic pregnancy earlier this year. He was clearly part of the family.

Daddy went missing on Oct 2. Ayao and Bitancur did everything they could to find him. They used social media and they even went to a morning show in Bicol to ask for help.

For Ayao, the experience brought back the painful memories of losing her baby. She lost her appetite and just ate rice porridge, ABS-CBN News Online reports.

Daddy was on medication when he went missing, and Ayao feared that his condition would get worse since he wasn’t getting proper attention.

Fortunately, a kind soul returned the dog on Oct 5. For privacy reasons, Ayao did not disclose his identity.

“To the family who found him and took care of him while Daddy’s away from home, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. No amount of reward can compensate the happiness and feeling of relief of being reunited with Daddy,” Ayao wrote on her Facebook page.

The video of Daddy’s return will tug at your heart strings even if you are not a dog-lover.

The wedding pushed through!

Bitancur carried Daddy as he and Ayao walked down the aisle.
