In Lawin’s path: House in Bontoc toppled

This photo taken by Alexander Donato and submitted to ABS-CBN News shows a house that used to stand near the Chico River in Bontoc, Mountain Province.

Bontoc was one of the areas that were hit the hardest by Typhoon Lawin (international name: Haima). The raging waters of the river also reportedly hit the house.

Lawin is the strongest storm to hit the Philippines in three years (the last one was Yolanda (international name: Haiyan) in 2013.

The most recent reports log 12 people dead in Lawin wake. Vast tracts of rice and corn fields were also damaged by Lawin before it moved on to Hong Kong.
