Watch: Karel Marquez recites Filipino poetry in pre-wedding video

Karel Marquez might’ve just started a trend here.

The former VJ poured her heart out in a short film announcing her wedding to her fiancé businessman Sean Fariñas.

What made the pre-wedding video unique? Karel used recites spoken word poetry in Filipino with piercing lines to narrate their love story.

Spoken word is a kind of word play popular among millennials. It involves elements of poetry, hip-hop, and the aesthetics of intonation.

Karel shared how she was blinded by the lights of showbusiness, and how Sean gave her hope. You will get goosebumps because of her honest storytelling

Magsimula tayo sa wakas. Sa wakas, magsisimula na tayo,” she said.

(‘Let’s start at the end. Finally, we can start.”)

The film was shot by Treehouse Story in Camaya Coast in Bataan. As Karel said on a Facebook post, this is just the first part of their pre-wedding films.

The second installment will be released next month, and will use Sean’s POV. We’re excited about that!

Karel and Sean got engaged eaerlier this year at Atmosphere Resorts in Daui, Negros Oriental, where Sean proposed on a boat! The couple have been together since Dec 2012.
