Blind Pinay singer wows the crowd in ‘France Got Talent’

Well, this isn’t surprising.

Katchry Jewel Golbin, a blind Filipina singer, is making waves online after she passed the audition round of La France a un Incroyable Talent (France Has Incredible Talent), the French version of the Got Talent reality show franchise. As such, the show is more popularly referred to as France Got Talent.

The Pinay singer, who now goes by the name of Alienette Coldfire, performed the French version of “I Dreamed a Dream” from the musical Les Miserables.

Alienette’s performance sent judge singer Helena Segara to tears. The other judges — illusionist Eric Antoine, Just For Laughs founder Gilbert Rozon, and choreographer Kamel Ouali — were also impressed.

According to news site Tele Star, Alienette studied the French language in order to understand the lyrics of the French song “La Vie en Rose” by Edith Piaf.

This is not her first time in a talent show. Alienette joined the GMA reality show Pinoy Idol in 2008, but failed to make it in the show’s top 12.

Nonetheless, Pinoy Idol judge Ogie Alcasid, in a Facebook post as quoted by PEP, said he is proud of the Alienette.

He even revealed that actress Solenn Heussaff’s father helped Alienette get a French visa so she could audition for the show.

“A few weeks ago, I got a text from her mother that someone saw her sing a French song on YouTube and was asked if she was interested to audition for France Got Talent. The only problem was that she was not granted a visa,” Ogie wrote. “I sought the help of good friend Solenn Marie Heussaff and her father and after a few days was given one… I am so proud of you Katchry. So proud.”
