Confirmed: Miss Universe will be held in PH!

After much speculation and all the confusion caused by cancellation rumors, it’s finally confirmed that the next installment of the Miss Universe pageant will be held in the Philippines.

In a press conference on Thu, Nov 3, Tourism chief Wanda Teo said that the coronation ceremony of the next edition of Miss Universe will be held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on Jan 30, 2017.

Teo stated, “After all that’s been said and done, I happily welcome on behalf of the DOT the latest announcement of the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) through Pia Wurtzbach that finally the Philippines will indeed play host to the much awaited 2016 Miss Universe pageant.”

“The pageant has so far been held in the country twice – in 1974 and 1994. The Philippines will be fielding Maxine Medina, a 25-year-old interior designer and model, in next year’s pageant,” reports ABS-CBN News.

For the record, the Philippines has had three Miss Universe winners: Gloria Diaz (1969), Margie Moran (1973), and Pia Wurtzbach (2015).
