Paolo Ballesteros wins Best Actor award at Tokyo International Film Festival

It’s surely an interesting and fruitful year for Philippine movies.

Eat Bulaga host Paolo Ballesteros won best actor at the 29th Tokyo International Film Festival in Tokyo, Japan on Thu, Nov 3 for his performance in Jun Lana’s Die Beautiful.

The TV host-actor played the role of transgender who wished that she be buried dressed as Lady Gaga in the film.

Fittingly, Paolo wore a dress to the Tokyo International Film Festival closing ceremony.

“I thought I was up for best actress,” he quipped during his acceptance speech.

Paolo also thanked his daughter Kira, his Eat Bulaga co-hosts, his cats and his dogs, his fans in Manila, and those who saw the movie in Tokyo.

“This is all for you… I will never forget you,” he said.

Paolo earlier made headlines when he dressed up as Angelina Jolie for the opening ceremony red carpet of the Tokyo International Film Festival.

Die Beautiful still has no release date in the Philippines. But according to reports, it is one of the 25 movies submitted to be considered for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.

Congratulations, Paolo!
