So its producer Star Cinema seems to have opted for the next best thing show — open it in theaters before the annual film fest.

On Sun, Nov 20, Star Cinema released the trailer for Vice’s The Super Parental Guardians, which also stars Coco Martin and child stars Onyok Pineda and Awra Briguela of the Ang Probinsyano fame.

The movie was submitted to be considered as part of the 2016 MMFF, but failed to make the cut.

Star Cinema is yet to announce a play date for the movie. But all signs point that will be shown in theaters before Christmas and start of the MMFF. Even Vice tweeted that his movie open in theater “very soon.”

Showbiz scribe and talent manager Ogie Diaz tweeted that Vice’s movie will open on Wed, Nov 30.

Fans and showbiz insiders were surprised over the exlucsion of Vice’s movie in the MMFF. The ABS-CBN comedian has been a mainstay of the film fest since 2012, and his entries are consistent box office hits.

Vice himself expressed his disappointment over the exclusion during the Fri, Nov 18 episode of It’s Showtime.

He also tweeted, after the 2016 MMFF announcement of entries: “Salamat sa mga tweets nyo. Nata-touch ako. Salamat po! At mahal na mahal ko kayo.”

(Thank you for the tweets. I am touched. Thank you! I love you very, very much.) On Sun, Nov 20, Vice also tweeted: “Hindi pwedeng hindi ko kayo pasasayahin sa Kapaskuhan.Taon taon may regalo akong pampasaya sa mga bata at sa pamilyang Pilipino. Panata yan!”

(I cannot not make you happy this Christmas. It’s my oath to bring the gift of happiness to Filipino children and families every year.)

So it seems you will still get a dose of Vice Ganda in the big screen before the end of the year, whether you like it or not.
