Today’s Google Doodle celebrates famed Thai fruit-carving artist

The beautiful illustration that graces Google’s search page today is in honor of fruit-carving Thai National Artist Penpan Sittitrai.

The adorable Google Doodle features illustrations of Thai fruits carved into fantastical shapes such as a duck, a boat and flowers.

Google Doodles are daily reimaginings of the Google logo to celebrate various world events.

Fruit artist Penpan became a Thai National Artist on Feb. 24, 2010. Feb. 24 is Thailand’s National Artist Day.

Penpan, who passed away in 2015 at 89 years of age, was renowned for her amazing artistic ability to turn fruits into sculptures. Her designs graced many royal functions over the years and she published several books on the subject, reported Bangkok Post.
