Police say they are close to apprehending fugitive crime boss Ricky Cadavero, the leader of the notorious Ozamis robber gan who escaped from New Bilibid Prison on Dec. 8.
“In the next few days we are hoping, expecting some positive developments,” Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said yesterday.
De Lima declined to give further details so as not to compromise the case.
Cadavero escaped from NBP when three men “posing as his visitors pointed guns at the jail guards,” the Philippine Star reported.
Police belive the Ozamis robbery group was behind several dramatic robberies in Metro Manila malls including Alabang Town Center, Robinsons Metro East, Robinsons Galleria, Robinsons Novaliches and Robinsons Dasmariñas, and a Landbank branch in Quezon City.
Police are on alert for more robberies by the gang following Cadavero’s escape from prison.
