‘Honor Thy Father’ congressional probe set on Jan 11

Here’s a piece of good news.

The Lower House displayed swift action, setting a date for the probe on the Honor Thy Father issue just three working days after after HTF cast member and Laguna representative Dan Fernandez filed a resolution for an investigation.

The hearing will be at 1pm on Jan 11.

On Facebook Tuesday, director Erik Matti shared a photo of the invite/agenda, saying he “didn’t know that this probe will happen so soon.”

There are 19 invited guests for the probe: 16 from the Metro Manila Film Festival executive committee, which includes Sen. Grace Poe, Mayor Herbert Bautista, Director Mark Meily, and Atty. Emerson Carlos, who is the over-all chair of the MMFF execom.

Producers Dondon Monteverde and John Lloyd Cruz, and Direk Eric Matti will represent the movie.

Honor Thy Father was suddenly disqualified from the Best Picture category on Sat, Dec 26, one day before the awarding ceremony.

On Monday, Dec 28, Fernandez along with Monteverde filed a resolution in the lower house to investigate the disqualification.

Good to know Congress can actually move this fast.
