Shoulda coulda woulda: Road barrier in Shaw Boulevard confuses motorists

THE PROBLEM: The placement of the road barrier in the Shaw Boulevard-F. Martinez intersection is confusing to motorists heading towards Gomezville/Hoover in San Juan.

THE INCIDENT: The last road-widening project in Shaw Boulevard redirected traffic so that vehicles coming from F. Martinez in Mandaluyong could no longer cross Shaw to enter Gomezville/Hoover in San Juan. The road barrier that used to prevent this entry has since been moved by a few feet (but not entirely removed) so that it’s now possible to cross. But are we allowed to do so? Some motorists do, but some just choose to play it safe and don’t.

SHOULDA COULDA WOULDA: A well-placed “Do Not Enter” sign or the removal of the road barrier would make the rules clear. It’s not fair to leave motorists to assume the meaning of a penetrable road barrier.
