391 addicts sent to rehab in Bangli

As of Friday, Bali Province’s National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) has reportedly sent 391 narcotics addicts to undergo rehabilitation at LP Narkotika Bangli.

“BNN’s target for rehabilitation is as many as 2,083 people and until now we’ve managed to rehab 391 narcotics addicts,” Head of BNNP Bali, Dr. Putu Suastawa told Tribun Bali on Friday.

The doctor explained that most addicts were discovered from sweeps done at boarding houses and a small number (he cited 20 percent) of the patients have willingly submitted themselves independently for rehab.

Long outpatient rehabilitation takes place for three months, but each treatment really depends on the patient, Suastawa says.

“Outpatient care is not enough alone. Later we also monitor post rehab, via counseling and observation until (the patients) are completely well,” he added.
