Serendra tenant to file PHP30.2-million suit vs. Ayala firms

Who would have thought that a posh spot would have this kind of problem?

“Marianne Cayton, the woman whose Two Serendra unit was destroyed by a powerful explosion on May 31, 2013, is set to file today a PHP30.2-million damage suit against three Ayala firms before the Pasig City justice hall,” reports Mike Frialde in The Philippine Star.

According to the report, Cayton’s lawyer, Atty. Raymond Fortun also “refuted the findings revealed by Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mar Roxas that negligence resulting in a gas leak caused the explosion.”

Earlier reports had implied that the renovation done to the unit had somewhat led to the so-called leak. Cayton’s camp has pointed out that the changes in the unit were done properly and that they were sure it wasn’t the cause of any malfunction in the building.

Cayton’s family friend, Angelito San Juan, who had been staying at the unit, was critically injured in the blast. He later died. The U.S.-based San Juan was using the unit because he was in town to attend a wedding.
