4 ways to stay productive while stuck in Edsa traffic

Were you one of those that suffered the agony of the traffic at last month’s People Power anniversary on Edsa? Here’s a recap of what happened: major roads in Quezon City were closed for more than half a day and there was ultimate mayhem as public buses and private vehicles tried to divert, inadvertently clogging alternative routes.

Naturally, folks had better things to do than sit around in a gridlock so many got out of their transport and walked to work. Sad times.

We hope the next Edsa Revolution anniversary will be declared a non-working holiday, but in the meantime (and if that doesn’t happen), don’t walk — you can still get things done in a slow-moving car:

1. Clear your email inbox & reschedule meetings

The best time to go through your email is when you’re commuting — no one will come and talk to you halfway, plus you get to hit the ground running when you finally reach the office. And if it looks like you’re going to miss all the breakfast, coffee and water cooler engagements you had planned, use an online calendar to invite your contacts to reschedule.

You’re gonna need: Sun’s Email Bundle, which gives you 30-day access to Gmail, Exchange, Outlook.com and Yahoo Mail for P199.

2. Conduct urgent meetings

Got a powwow you can’t put off? You can still make it happen — set your team mates up on a group chat.

You’re gonna need: Sun’s Chat Bundle, which gives you 30-day access to Chikka Messenger, FB Messenger, Google Hangout, Kakao, Line, Oist, Viber, Whatsapp and WeChat for P249.

3. Get a headstart on brainstorming

Photo apps are jam-packed with ideas for just about anything, including meals, holidays, interior design and parties. Just do a quick keyword search and get ready to be overwhelmed. If you’re on Pinterest, start a Board to collate your ideas — you can even set it to Secret for all the confidential work stuff.

You’re gonna need: Sun’s Photo Bundle, which gives you 30-day access to Flickr, Imgur, Instagram, Pinterest and Tumblr for P199.

4. Be a Good Samaritan

If you’ve found yourself stuck in a no-way-out situation, do your fellow colleagues and friends a favor — send them traffic updates so they’ll know where the problems are (everywhere!) and whether or not they should leave the house or just work from home. If the disaster doesn’t have an official hashtag yet, make one — you might save more than one office’s life.

You’re gonna need: Sun’s Social Bundle, which gives you 30-day access to Facebook, Foursquare, Google Plus, LinkedIn, Path, Twitter and Waze for P199.
