Our question is, why?

Why were the DILG officials not allowed to serve the suspension order?

“Violence erupted Tuesday at the Makati City hall after the officials of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) served the suspension order against Mayor Jejomar Erwin ‘Junjun’ Binay,” reports Nestor Corrales on Inquirer.net.

Bottled waters and chairs were what welcomed police authorities at the Makati City Hall.

According to the Inquirer report, “at least eight people were injured including three policemen.”

And where was Mayor Binay when all this was happening? He “continues to be holed-up in his office, refusing to acknowledge the suspension order,” according to the report.

Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Peña has already signed the oath of office as the new Mayor of Makati.
