Expect a provocative but wistful Madonna come February

Okay, Madonna fans, based on an Agence France-Presse report on the 57-year-old diva’s second show at Madison Square in New York last night, here’s what to expect: a whole lot of sex, a little stab at religion and a rare display of emotion.

Last night’s New York show opened with Madonna descending from a cage to a procession of armored dancers, inspired by both Joan of Arc and the samurai.

She and her dancers then changed attire at a dizzying pace, as the singer assumed personas that ranged from 1920s cabaret coquette to erotically-charged matador.

But Madonna also turned wistful before the audience in her adopted hometown, remembering her first time in Madison Square Garden, when she closed her blockbuster 1985 tour for “Like a Virgin”.

“I’m feeling pretty nostalgic tonight. I first performed here 30 years ago,” she said. The show of emotion was rare for Madonna, known for her fierce professional determination.

Which is not to say she’s gone soft.

Like all her previous tours, there’s a ton load of sex in “Rebel Heart”.

While she performed “Holy Water”, for instance, transgender nuns twirled on stripper poles and hoisted Madonna up in the air. The stage then turned into a mock Last Supper, with Madonna as the main course tied on the table with her legs flirtatiously open.

Of course, there’s not a lack of hot-bodied dancers simulating imaginable sex acts.

Madonna performs in Manila for the very first time on Feb 24 & 25, 2015. SM Mall of Asia Arena will be divided into six sections according to ticket prices ranging from PHP3,150 to PHP57,750. Despite the wild ticket prices, we heard the first night sold out in a snap.
