With the 2016 elections coming up in a few days, it’s crunch time for the Commission of Elections (Comelec).
However, they have yet to restore their website after it was hacked last March.”Yes, it is still down. We hope to have it up [by] the middle of this week, according to our IT department,” said Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez in an interview with ABS-CBN.
This might cause problems for registered voters who want to look for their precincts and other pertinent voter information
In the meantime, Jimenez suggests to instead call the Comelec hotline at 525-9296, or text 09185668301.
It can be recalled that Anonymous Philippines hacked and defaced the Comlec website on Mar 28. It “may turn out as the biggest government related data breach in history.”
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has already arrested a suspect in relation to the event.
