Pacman says ‘pressure’ made him Congress absentee, vows to be more present in Senate

Let’s hope he follows through on this promise.

“Maraming absences dahil sa pressure… Pressure masyado na kung saang partido ka. Ang ginawa ko na lang, nag-focus ako sa Sarangani…yung pabahay ko, yung pagtulong sa mga tao (I had a lot of absences because there seemed to be a lot of pressure about which party you belonged to. What I did was, I just focused on Sarangani…on the housing program I started and helping people there).”

This was what boxing champ and outgoing Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao told TV Patrol when he was asked about his reputation as a perennial absentee at the House of Representatives.

Pacquiao, who has secured a spot in the Senate in the recent elections, vows that he will definitely be more present at the Senate. To do this, he said that he’ll be putting his sports-oriented pursuits in the backburner. He did say, though, that he’s thinking about the posisbily of participating in the upcoming Olympics inRio de Janeiro, Brazil from Aug 5 to 21. There’s been talk that professional boxers may be allowed to be compete.
