According to Bayani San Diego of Philippine Daily Inquirer, Jaclyn’s “main objective” in accepting the title role in Brillante Mendoza’s film Ma’Rosa was to give her daughter Andi the chance to attend the prestigious film festival.

Andi is also part of Ma’Rosa, which competed in the main competition of the 69th Cannes Film Festival.

“I was excited for Andi. I’ve had my time. I wanted to give her the same experiences I had before,” Jaclyn told Inquirer.

Jaclyn was accompanied by Andi and Brillante on stage when she accepted her best actress award at the Cannes Film Festival awards ceremony on Mon, May 23 (PH time). But the 52-year-old actress said she was not being a stage mother, it was merely “instinct.”

“I was not being a stage mother. I was not trying to sell my daughter to the foreign producers in the audience. I just wanted to share that special moment with her,” she said.

But that doesn’t mean Jaclyn would mind if Andi, 25, deos get noticed.

In an interview with Ricky Lo of Philippine Star, Jaclyn said she is hopeful it is Andi and not her who would get a Hollywood offer “because she has been having pictorials with the international media every day.”
