Kobe Paras withdraws from UCLA due to academics

We haven’t even seen Kobe Paras dominate the courts yet, but his era in UCLA has already ended.

The  6-foot-6 guard called by PBA legends as ‘The Future’ and a ‘complete package’ has withdrawn from UCLA after academic conditions of his admission were not met.

“Incoming freshman guard Kobe Paras, admitted upon condition to UCLA, has withdrawn from the university due to academic conditions of his admission not being met,” the full statement read.

LA Times, ESPN Sports and other international websites reported UCLA’s statement late Wednesday (Manila time).

The son of PBA legend Benjie Paras spent the past two years in Los Angeles. He was a senior at Cathedral High School. Prior to moving to the US, he went to school in La Salle Greenhills where he also played for the school’s basketball team.

Kobe must be devastated by the news, especially since his Facebook page shows how excited he is to be a part of the UCLA Bruins.

Paras signed a letter of intent to play for the UCLA in October last year.
