Viral: Cebu reporter claims Kim Chiu was rude at cemetery

Celebs literally can’t catch a break these days.

Kim Chiu is the subject of a viral article that alleged she was rude to a reporter at a cemetery in Cebu City.

According to the article titled “Kim Chiu at Cempark,” published on Cebu Daily News on Wed, Nov 2, an editorial staff of the paper approached Kim at the Cebu Memorial Park to ask permission to take a photo as part of their All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day coverage.

The reporter, the article noted, “quietly approached the Chiu mausoleum, introduced herself and respectfully asked (Kim’s) companions, who were by the road, if she could take a photo of the celebrity.”

But Kim simply smirked when her companion whispered to her the reporter’s request. The report claimed that Kim, via her companion, “curtly” told the reporter to simply grab her photos from her Instagram account.

“And as though that ‘attitude’ was not enough, Chiu moves closer to the editor, ignores her but nods to the person standing right beside, who must have been Chiu’s dad,” the Cebu News Daily added.

“Chiu then poses for a private photo with her dad and sister in front of her mother’s grave while smiling like an angel,” the report ended.

The Cebu News Daily article noted that it understands Kim’s “the need for privacy.” But it also described Kim’s attitude towards the reporter as “utterly rude.” It added the encounter left the reporter “in shock.”

The article has been shared over 40,000 times on Facebook as of this writing.

Reaction over Kim’s demeanor towards the reporter has been mixed. Some say “there ought to be some other better way she can decline that would seem more polite than a smirk and blatant ignoring a person’s presence.”

Others are defending Kim, saying there is “nothing wrong” with how the actress dealt with the situation since it was her private moment with relatives.

Here’s something you may not know: celebs are people too; they deserve those no-work holidays as much as we do.
