Did we just travel back to 2010?
On Mon, Oct 24, ABS-CBN announced that it is reuniting Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu for the upcoming soap opera, Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigan.
The reunion comes six years after Gerald and Kim broke up — both as onscreen partners and real life lovers.
Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigan will be directed by Dan Villegas and will also star Jake Cuenca, Coleen Garcia, Bing Loyzaga, and Helen Gamboa, among others.

“Kung aanuhin ang issue noon, ang luma na nun. Kinakabahan ako sa mga sasabihin ng mga tao. I am challenged to face kung ano man ang sasabihin,” Kim said, explaining why she had initial hesistation to do a project with her ex-boyfriend.
(Whatever our issue was with each other, that’s old news. I’m nervous with what people will say. But I feel challenged to face this new project, whatever the public says.)
The announcement was generally well-received, with “Kimerald is back” trending on Twitter last night.
“Thankful kami. Like I said, andyan pa rin sila,” Gerald said on the fan reaction to the upcoming show. “This is why we’re doing this. This is why iba pa rin yung motivation namin. We’re gonna give 110 percent sa project kasi kung hindi dahil sa kanila, wala kami dito.”

“I’m thankful for my 10 year career. And there are so many things I want to do. This is on my bucket list.”
Earlier this year, ABS-CBN announced that Gerald would be doing a soap opera with Yen Santos titled Because You Love Me, also with Jake Cuenca and Dan Villegas.

Months later, it was rumored that Yen will be replaced by Kim. Kim initially denied the reports.
Turns out, the reports were true after all. Yen is now doing another ABS-CBN soap opera, the Jerico Rosales and Arci Munoz-starrer Magpahanggang Wakas.
Dan, however, said that this show is a new project — despite keeping a lot of the same elements and cast members from the previously announced show.
We have to say, Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigan does seem like an exciting project. This is the first time Gerald and Kim will be doing a project together since the 2012 ensemble movie 24/7… In Love. Their last soap opera together was Kung Tayoý Magkakalayo in 2010. So, really, it’s been six years since fans got a real full-fledged Kimerald project.

Yet, it is also interesting to note that in 2010, after Gerald and Kim’s breakup, the actor dated fellow ABS-CBN star Bea Alonzo. Their romance fizzled due to Gerald’s love team with Kim.
Now, Gerald and Bea are rumored to be dating again.
We’ll say it again: the wheels of the (showbiz) bus really go round and round.
