MMFF rejects target earlier playdates

Vic Sotto’s Enteng Kabisote and the Abangers and Regal Films’ Mano Po 7: Tsinoy are also aiming to be released in theaters this December, before the annual Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

This is after the two movies failed to make it as one of eight entries in 2016 MMFF.

Octoarts Films, the producer of Enteng Kabisote and the Abangers, took to social media on Mon, Nov 21 to announce that the Vic Sotto-starrer will be coming to theaters soon.

According to reports, Enteng Kabisote and the Abangers will open in theaters on December 10, two weeks before the start of the MMFF.

Meanwhile, Mano Po 7: Tsinoy, which stars Richard Yap, Janella Salvador, Jessy Mendiola, and Enchong Dee, will reportedly open in theaters on Dec 14.

Enteng Kabisote and the Abangers and Mano Po 7: Tsinoy are long-running Pinoy movie franchises that got its start in the MMFF during the early 2000s — which made their exclusion in the annual Christmas film fest all the more surprising for showbiz pundits and insiders.

The movie of Vice Ganda, another MMFF mainstay since 2012, also did not make it in the film fest and opted to have a Nov 30 release.

See you at the movies?
