It’s Vic Sotto vs Vice Ganda at the box office on Nov 30

At this point, who needs the Metro Manila Film Festival?

OctoArts Films just announced that the Vic Sotto-starrer Enteng Kabisote and the Abangers will open in theaters on Wed, Nov 30.

Yes, that’s right — it will compete directly with Vice Ganda’s The Super Parental Guardians, which also has a Nov 30 playdate.

Both movies failed to make it as official entries in this year’s MMFF, hence the early release dates.

The movies of Vic and Vice (My Bebe Love and Beauty and the Bestie, respectively) were last year’s top grossers at the MMFF. 

It will be interesting to see how their movies will do at the box office outside the annual Christmas film festival. 

Vic’s last non-MMFF movie was the 2011 comedy Pak! Pak! My Dr. Kwak

Meanwhile, Vice’s last non-MMFF movie was 2012’s This Guy’s In Love With You, Mare.

Another MMFF 2016 reject, Mano Po 7: Tsinoy starring Richard Yap, is also set for a release in theaters before the film festival.

And According to a TV Patrol, the producers of Mang Kepwang Returns starring Vhong Navarro, which was also snubbed by the MMFF, is also eyeing a playdate before the MMFF.
