Who rakes in that amount of money on a Wednesday?
Piolo Pascual and Sarah Geronimo, that’s who. Their first big-screen tandem, The Breakup Playlist, opened on July 1 — a Wednesday — and on that day alone, it has already cashed in a whopping PHP15 million.
In an interview on Aquino & Abunda Tonight on July 1, Sarah thanked everyone who watched the movie. “Maraming, maraming salamat po sa lahat ng sumuporta sa premiere night namin. ‘Yung mga nanood po kanina, maraming salamat. Please spread the word. Enjoy the music, the love and the journey of Trixie and Gino,” she said.
Trixie and Gino, of course are Sarah and Piolo’s characters in the Star Cinema and Viva Films co-production. They’re both musicians who fall in love and break up after their success gets in the way.
The Breakup Playlist features remakes of popular OPM hits from the Eraserheads and Kitchie Nadal as well as an original composition from Yeng Constantino and Jonathan Manalo.
