Some criminals just don’t think it through.
“On Saturday morning, March 7, a 47-year-old man named Dannie Ting was arrested at a shopping mall in Baclaran, Pasay City for impersonating a police officer,” reports Mike Frialde in The Philippine Star.
The report noted: “Ting was wearing a police uniform — which bore patches supposedly identifying him as assigned to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and his rank as a chief inspector — when he was apprehended at the Bagong Milenyo Plaza mall.”
According to acting city police chief Senior Superintendent Sidney Hernia, Police Officers 3 Pio Tabirao and Eulalio Corpuz arrived at the mall at around 10am and arrested Ting after he was unable to produce a Philippine National Police identification card.
The report added that “Ting had claimed to be a member of the NCRPO’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and that he was at the mall on a secret mission.”
Ting was detained at the Pasay police headquarters. He faces charges of usurpation of authority and illegal use of uniforms and insignia.
