Pokémons of Manila are here and we can’t stop laugh-crying

We all love the heartwarming — and sometimes heartbreaking — stories of ordinary humans in New York through the lens of Brandon Stanton of Humans of New York

But have you ever stopped and think about the lives of ordinary Pokémons?

Facebook page Pokémons of Manila gives us a glimpse of Pokémons (yes, it’s a valid plural form according to them) roaming around Manila, just waiting to be captured and chosen by Filipino players of Pokémon Go.

Here are some of our favorite stories:

It reads:
Chatot wasn’t my first favorite Pokemon. But Chatot was the very first one that made me realize that there is no such thing as a weak Pokémon. Every one of them just needs a trainer, a friend, who would believe in their strongest capabilities and would always be at their side in winnings and in losses. At the end of the day, what matters most is that you were able to create a tight bond you’ll never expect to have. And that’s beautiful.

It reads:
Hindi naman ako hinuhuli dahil gusto ako. Gusto yung evolution form ko. Alam mo ba kung gaano kasakit ang maramdaman na hinding-hindi ka magiging sapat para sa kanya?

(People are not catching me because they want me. They’re just after my [evolved] form. Do you know how much it hurts to feel that you’ll never ever be enough for them?)

It reads:
Kapag hindi ka na kailangan, hindi ka na pinapahalagahan, lalo kung hindi naman talaga ikaw ang gusto niyang makuha. Sanay na ako. Ang importante sakin nakakatulong ako para maiangat ang level niya.

(When they don’t need you, they don’t care about your value, especially if you’re not the one they want in the first place. I’m used to it. What’s important for me is that I get to help them reach the next level.)

It reads:
“I always struggle at communicating with the people around me. Mostly I just spend my time with my Pokémon. They always keep me company when I go home from school. They really love to pose for pictures, like Vulpix who did a candid one. I don’t worry if I don’t have much human friends. My Pokémon friends are enough for me.”

Sometimes we can’t help but relate to these pocket monsters.
