Ladies, do you want to play for the national team?

“Newly appointed Philippine women’s basketball team coach Patrick Aquino has called for previous pool members and other interested players to try out for the national squad,” reports Inquirer.net.

The report noted: “The tryouts are set for February 4, 7, 9, 10 and 11 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the SGS Gymnasium along Araneta Avenue in Quezon City.”

The report further explained that “from more than 40 players who attended, Aquino will trim down the pool to 20 before coming up with the final 12-man line up which will compete in the Southeast Asian Basketball Association (SEABA) tournament and the Southeast Asian Games.”

Meanwhile, tuneup games in Thailand are slated for the national team from Mar 28 to Apr 4.

The report pointed out that “Aquino, who propelled National University to the UAAP women’s basketball crown in season 77, was named by the Samahang Basketball Pilipinas (SBP) as successor to longtime coach Haydee Ong.”
