Watch: DOT’s tourism campaign dominates Waterloo station

Looks like we’ll be seeing more visitors from London in the following months.

As part of their “Station Domination” Project, the Philippine Department of Tourism presented a massive display enticing Londoners to head to the Philippines on their next holiday. Through experiential booths, colorful banners, videos, photo op stations, and even virtual reality goggles, the month-long exhibit at the Waterloo station showed that indeed “It’s more fun in the Philippines!”

“The whole thing is branded as Philippines, so that in itself gives them an island feeling. Now, it’s very cold, so they want to have this feel of islands.” said Gerard Panga, Tourism Attache & Director for the Northern and Southern Europe Philippine embassy.

It was a brilliant marketing campaign strategy from the DOT! About 280,000 travelers pass through the Waterloo station everyday. Some of them had positive words about the exhibit.

“It’s interesting. It’s different. This kind of campaign makes people stop and look,” said one traveler.

“I will definitely go home and look into some flights to the Philippines… which I’ve never done before,” said another.

Some of them got excited about checking out our tourist attractions. Highlighted were the beaches in Palawan, the chocolate hills of Bohol, Cebu and Banawe.

Those who tried out the interactive booths had opportunities to win a trip to the country.

The next stop for the “Station Domination” project in London will be in King’s Cross Station, Philippine Star reports.

Congratulations to the DOT for your successful campaign!
