Weather update: Typhoon Falcon in PH

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that Typhoon Falcon (international name: Chan-Hom) entered the Philippine area of responsibility at 9:30pm on Tue, Jul 7.

At 4am on Wed, Jul 8, the eye of Typhoon Falcon was located based on all available data at 1,330 kilometers (km) east northeast of Aparri, Cagayan or 1,335 km east of Calayan, Cagayan. It had maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph. It is forecast to move west northwest at 20 kph.

Monsoon rains which may trigger flashfloods and landslides will be experienced over the Provinces of Mindoro, Palawan, Bataan and Zambales. Light to moderate rains is expected over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera and Western Visayas. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over the entire archipelago with moderate to rough seas.
