For most Filipinos, the end of the rainy season heralds the start of the Christmas season, which means only one thing: expect more traffic jams to come your way. Don’t be disheartened though, after all, it’s the holiday season and you can reward yourself with shopping and dining after taking more than two hours to reach the mall.
While you’re stuck in traffic, make yourself productive. It’s time to give your daily warrior some TLC, with some interior cleaning and detailing.
1. Begin by thoroughly inspecting the scene of the crime. Look for bread crumbs, chocolate smudges, dried drink spills, ketchup splatters, etc — if you have kids, you’ll know what I mean. These are the toughest ones to clean and you’ll need a sponge and an all-purpose car interior cleaner to remove these stains.
2. Inspect the vanity mirrors for make-up dust stains and finger print smudges — if you’re married or have a girlfriend, again, you’ll know what I mean.
3. If you have a portable vacuum cleaner, this would be a good time to suck dust and other particles from your air conditioner vents and other nooks in your interior. Just make sure you don’t overdo it and accidentally discharge your car’s battery.
4. Pick up all lose dirt like, tissues, receipts, parking tickets, candy wrappers, etc. and put them in a plastic bag and throw them when you get off.
5. Organize loose change. Group all the PHP1, PHP5 and PHP10 coins together or, alternatively, you can stack them into PHP10 values, taped together like poker chips. This could save you time when paying for parking, toll fees, or snacks from street vendors.
6. When everything is already clean and in order, put on the final touches by wiping the windows down with a microfiber cloth and applying your good all-purpose interior dressing on the dashboard for added protection and a brand new shine.
