Thanks to the Papal visit, Soler Santos’ sweet art project inspired by his wife, whose name is Mona, has been extended.
“The original egress was Jan 16, but we asked if we could extended a few days because all roads were closed for the Papal visit. And then they were going to have construction so umabot na ng Art Fair,” Mona says.
It’s going to be one of the satellite events during the highly-anticipated, four-day event in February, along with Gabriel Barredo’s ‘Opera’ in Silverlens Galleries. “Yes, Art Fair asked for a list of exhibits happening on the duration of the fair para yung mga guests, may mapupuntahan,” Soler continues.
The Mona Lisa Project features 83 artists who did their take of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. It was put on exhibit at the CCP in 2013, and then again at Solaire in 2014.
Of the 83, Mona says her favorite is the one by Roberto Chabet, pictured above. “It’s one of the last works he did before he passed away,” she explains.
Where do the portraits go after the exhibit? To storage, the couple says. “Walang space sa bahay!”
The Mona Lisa Project is being shown until Feb 8 at Solaire Resort and Casino. Drop by!
