Why Sam Milby won’t be pursuing Miss U Pia Wurtzbach any time soon

Remember when Sam Milby serenaded Pia Wurtzbach at her homecoming event in January? Rumors swirled that Sam and Pia were a “hot item” before she became Miss Universe (thanks to Piolo Pascual dropping a hitn on the the two’s possibly juicy past during the event).

Adding fuel to the flame is Pia’s most recent interview with Boy Abunda where she said Sam is her celebrity crush.

But to set the record straight, Sam said she neither dated nor romantically pursued Pia. The 31-year-old actor said he and Pia are just close friends since they’ve known each other for eight years.

“We still keep in touch. It’s a good friendship. We used to be quite close naman,” he told Coconuts Manila and other media reporters during the press conference for his ABS-CBN afternoon soap opera Doble Kara

Reporters asked Sam: Why didn’t you pursue Pia? The actor said they were both in a relationship at the time.

Sam also wouldn’t even think about pursuing Pia now; he doesn’t want people to think he only became interested with Pia because she won the Miss Universe crown. Of course, there’s also the fact that Pia has admitted she is exclusively dating New York-based social media celebrity Mikhail Varshavski

“If I want to go for her, it would be taos-puso. Hindi yung dahil lang Miss Universe siya,” he shared.

Sam refused to comment about his love life in general.

He was reportedly dating model Mari Jasmine last year. Now, he doesn’t want to confirm or deny if they’ve already broken up.

There was even a report claiming he’s now dating Miss Universe Philippines 2014 Mary Jean Lastimosa. But the actor vehemently denied the rumor.

“Magkaibigan lang kami. I happen to see her ilang beses kasi she’s friends din with John Prats and Isabel Oli. So nagkikita kami dun. But in terms of naghahang out… friends lang,” he said.
